Bit of a Lightweight

Post by morpethcurve »

I got bored waiting around for a new sim to come out, so I dug around in my reference library (which is about to reach L-Space criticality) and decided to to build one of these:

After about two hours.

A few minutes ago. MSTSbin Rocks!

I'll post more as I progress.

Now that is something I like Chris.

I took the liberty of editing your post to get rid of the thumblink since Matt modified the way Atomic Album pictures work on the forums - they automatically create an 800 * 600 thumblink now - edit your post to see how I did that :-)

Kindest regards

John

Nice. Think the only first generation DMUs missing from the MSTS collection now must be the Swindon Cross Country and Swindon Inter City Units. Maybe one of these modern traction builders will get around to them one day...

Thanks for that, although all my shots are edited to 800*600 before I upload them these days (I just thought I'd not hog the bandwidth with pages of big piccies!)

Anyhoo, today's going to to be mainly concerned with my least favorite part of the model: the bogies. I can never seem to get them exatly right without a huge outlay of polygons. We'll see how things go.

Hi Chris
Current European practice these days is to build them as seperate wags.. there by getting round poly counts....just a thought?

actually, we have alot of classes missing

we only really have class 100, 101, 103, 104, 105, 107, 110, 117, 121 and 129s done properly (as in not claimed to be something like a 115 or a 108 but on the 117 body)

Actually, I've just rattled off a version with some failry complete bogies (just missing sanders, brakes and a few sundries), and the whole unit weighs in at 1.08 Kujus. With a little luck, I can get the whole thing done in under...ooh, rough guess, 2.5 Kujus.

Here's this morning's picture:

Well, the afternoon has gone by quickly! I've got to go and run a few errands now, so here's the latest update. Busied myself with underframe detail and got a reasonable representation of an engine started off. Progress is going to be slow now, as I'm back to work tomorrow :(

Gmax shot of latest build.
