Scale Drawings of Locomotives and Coaches

Post by 26014 »

Hi Everyone I am making a start at creating my own Locos and Coaches but I am looking for scale drawings of each loco with sizes so I can create good models for you, If you know where I can find these it would be great or does anyone have any spare copies I can buy or in return I can help provide cab photos for locomotives etc.

Thanks
Tony

The best place to find drawings are in the model magazines. A quick search on the internet will find you several online 'indexes' which will tell you which magazines a certain loco or coach can be found in. Then it is a matter of tracking down that edition. Your local model club might have an extensive collection of old magazines.

I have posted this before but here you go again

You can get a catalogue of drawings for Locomotives and rolling stock 3/4/7/10mm scales from the Skinleys range at:

Phil Brice
The Sussex Modeller
East Sussex
BN10 7PP
tel: 01273 581 265

The catalog is approx £2.50 and you may need to invest in a decent A4 flatbed scanner to avail yourself of the backdrop facilities if you use TSM.

The catalogue does not include anything modern and seems to stop in the mid 1950's

As these are for physical models the gauge of the wheels is not accurate as they are for 4mm (16.5mmtrack gauge) but on the few plans I have the rest of the measurements seem to be ok. They are only available on paper. There is another source of drawings for Southern vehicles only, I cannot find a link but I belive it is on the SEmg Yahoo site.

Also someone posted a site which had GWR content on do a search for it on this site.

I bought the book 'Drawn and Described' by Ian Beattie which is a collection of 55 locomotive drawings and descriptions from articles which appeared in Railway Modeller over the years (mainly steam).

It is published by Peco, so can be obtained from most UK model shops, about 15 quid a copy.

I'm not arguing (just explaining why I'm right).
