KWVR Steam Gala 17/18th February 2007

Post by alexnick »

Hi,

I thought I'd just post a link to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway's website about their forthcoming event:
http://www.kwvr.co.uk/events/steam_gala.htm

It looks pretty good, with 6 locos in steam. I shall be going down on the Saturday myself, anyone else here planning on going along?

Nick

PS: If I've got something wrong about this, please correct me. I never trust my own organisational skills.

I will probably be there on the Sunday with some guys from the GCR. Not too far from Leeds either!

Was very impressed with them on New Years Day, lovely little railway.

Unfortunately not a trip I can make though - I'll be crying through Thomas the Tank Engine with the rest of the dedicated and suicidal GCR volunteers :)

Yeah, 4953 will be my favourite loco. The one I remember most, too, as I helped to clean her before she travelled to York. :D Not quite volunteer work, but brilliant all the same.

Nope i haven't done any main line trips yet.

I think the loco was well recieved and settled a few old scores about GWR locos up north. A great weekend was had by all the support crew- knackered now but it was well worth it!

What a great day I had on Sunday! It was lovely to see Pitchford Hall and to get an invite into the cab for the run round shunt at Keighley.

That's me at the back. My friend John Evans was part of the crew and Mr Kennedy invited me on board because I helped clean the brasswork before Christmas.

What can I say?? Me and my parents had a wonderful day...and wasn't the weather great? I think a lot of people got a lot of pleasure that day. Many thanks to Pitchford Hall and all the crew.

And I'm the guy with my eyes shut immediately to your left, right on the picture (showing the signs of an early morning and a late night ahead........). My brother is on the other side of the cab. The driver seems happy with things- hence the thumbs up!

I'll know who you are next time!

Yes indeed the weather was great- though it got a little chilly on the night runs- I got into my cubby hole between the boiler backhead and cabside then!

Well how do you do, Mr Ward!

Here are another couple of shots of you. The first one is one I took with you and John on.

The next one is one my Dad took, but I put my hand up to wave! (Never mind, the face is best hidden!)
