Placing Consists

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Placing Consists

Post by gswindale »

When I am attempting to create my own activity (for Dorset Coast), I would like to place some consists, however at times I have placed these in such a way that when I verify my starting state it tells me they are in a crashed position. I cannot see my consists in Activity Editor, so how can I easily remove these errors without taking my activity apart in Notepad?

How do you mean, you can't see your consists in the AE?

i click place consist, select the consist I wish to place, click OK and then when I load the activity up in MSTS, the consists appear, but they are simply not showing in Activity Editor.

Do they show in the editor after you click ok?

This is what I see after clicking OK.

If I go into MSTS and drive to Richmond, I will see a LUL train in one of the other platforms, but it is not showing in AE.

Sorry, I've been tied up. I haven't seen a purple path before - is that for a LUL train?

Are you talking about an AI service or a stationary consist?

If it's the former then it will appear when you "play" back the activity in the editor. If it's a loose consist it will show instantly you hit ok.

the purple path is a LUL train, however all AI routes appear purple.

It is a stationary consist - I just can't get them to show in AE at all - even when loading other activities such as those included on the DC4 CD.

Sorry, I don't normally have traffic paths on, hence the purple question.

Loose consists are also purple and, as I said, should appear instantly. It seems strange that you can't see them in any activity.

Try loading up the third activity from the settle/carlisle route. It starts ITR..etc .You should see a couple of purple circles in the Carlisle area.

This is a fairly common problem and is, I believe, a result of corruption in the registry of the hwrenderer entries.

Do a search of the forums for "hwrenderer" and you should be able to find the solution. There's a small program around somewhere that will fix it for you but I can't find it right now.

Here we go again!

I have had this happen and so have many folks. The solution is to open Regedit and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\1.0\HWRenderer. In the right hand pane find the entry, AE_Normal_View and delete it. Restart the Activity editor and you should be able to see your consists again. If that doesn't work try deleting all the entries in the right hand pane begining AE_. The activity editor will redo the registry entries and you should have it working again.

Hope this helps Mark

Many thanks - removing the registry key has worked a treat.
