What is your favourite type of route?

What is your favourite type of route in MSTS?
Is it Electrified? Non-electrified? Third-railed?
Single Tracked, Double Tracked, more than that?

As for me, my favourite type of route is Electrified with more than 2 tracks, but I do also like non-electrified double track routes, out in the sticks if you know what I mean...

non-electrified, non-dieselised, East Anglian, running Royal Blue locos and teak carriages.

That gives me Thaxted at the moment; anything else is a stopgap till we get a proper GER route laid

In all seriousness, it's not that important. I like Burton-Derby, Dorset Coast, Wupper Express, Albula, MidEast (both versions), LTS and more. It just depends how I feel at the time, so it's not feasible for me to cast a vote - I like them all at some stage.

If it has trains, reasonable scenery and a bit of variation for activities, (simple straightforward mainlines are no better than driving two hundred miles along a motorway on cruise control - stultifyingly tedious) it'll do me.

Yes I would agree 'variety is the spice of life'........certainly in MSTS.
I'll drive any route, anywhere in the world.......so long as its well made, detailed scenery........and well made stock to run on it.
I agree very straight Mainlines can be boring...but I've got LGV and Italian 7 routes...and enjoy them both occasionally.
Only one I couldn't get on with was the Chunnel....virtually straight tunnel, 20 odd miles...didn't do it for me.

One of my Favourites at Present is NMJ route it's Swedish and has both mainline and branch line overhead.

What I like about it is that it has English Activities and Swedish ones also come complete with all the activities and rolling stock to run it,so no hunting around to find stock.

When I was first using MSTS I enjoyed the long routes. For a while i'd even make activities that spanned over routes like London to Glasgow using Thames Mersey, NWE, Nothern Rail Routs and Glasgow Carlisle.

Now I prefer shorter runs and i'm really enjoying the routes like SMJ and the South Eatern Branch line.

Really, its whatever floats my boat on any particular day. I'm not keen on freight and prefer Diesel mostly 1950's to 1970's or 80's. Late 50's to mid 60's is good because you have Diesel, steam and electric at the same time. You can also have Maroon, Blue and Green.

Non electrified single track. Preferably narrow gauge steam for me.

I like the routes that have double main line in the route. I prefer non electrified routes, But I will run electrified routes. Although, When I run on a electrified route from overseas. I will be running american trains, Because I prefer american trains.

I guess that is the reason why I am working on a couple fantasy routes that will be double main line throughout the whole route, But who knows when I will have them done and ready for release.

Some of my favorite routes are the Italian routes that are available. If I had to choose which route I like the best overall. I would probably have to go with the KMJ route that is a excellent swiss route.

I have to personally say none of the above. I prefer a route whichoffers a combination of types in various places, mixtures of single and double track running, some large sections with multiple sets of tracks, some electric, and possibly some non, operated by diesels and the like, so no mtter what type of running I'm in the mood for, I can find a section of the route to go and drive.

(GE makes a good job of the above incidently, from nice short 1 track runs to Upminster, to the many tracked mayhem of the GE mainline)

On a connected note, I'm just off for a bit of two track electrified running between Stansted Airport and Liverpool Street

I love the smell of EMU's in the morning.....

Me too, knew straight away what I was voting for! I like routes such as: The Swanage, West Somerset, Severn Valley & East Lancs - the short preserved lines.

All good routes espically with 1501 and ten mark 1's.

i like any steam route, much better then tin cans.
