Reverser arrow not triggering in MSTS Bin

Post by Thugsy »

I'm finding that the reverser arrow is not triggering in some activities since installing MSTS Bin. I'm sure I must be missing something simple but has anyone else come across this problem?

Which "reverser arrow" is that, pressing W or S ?

After installing MSTSBin 1.7 have you copied the Translated DDLs\EN\*.dll files into the Train Simulator folder, being asked to overwrite the existing ones ?

Sorry to be jumping onto someone else's query (and haranging you for help again, Otto!), but do those files always need to be manually copied over for MSTS Bin to work properly? (Probably a silly question as it does seem to be working properly now in that I can change ends and get nice light/dark cab switching etc. - but I've as yet only tried in Explore Route mode so it's possible I'm missing something!).

Cheers

Sorry - it is when I am using the track monitor . Normally when you come to a point in an activity where you need to reverse you wait until the reversing arrow has vanished on Track Monitor and then the route is set up OK. What I am finding is that the arrow remains displayed and I just run up against red signals forwards and backwards and have to abandon.

Yes, they should be manually copied after every MSTSBin-1.6+ install even if previous MSTSBin *.dll files were left behind for whatever reason, because George may have had to change them yet again !

But the coupler, rear cabs and most other MSTSBin-1.6+ functions do not depend on them, these files being mainly responsible for displaying dialog boxes and their and other text, like the new "Alert" when you are trying to change cabs in a moving train and the new enlarged objects selection window in the Route Editor, etc !

Sorry, I don't use "reverse points" and I am sure somebody who does can check this out for you ?

Hello

The placement of a RP (Reverse Point) can be quite tricky when building an activity. If it's too close (the entire train must have cleared the switch it's controlling) it will never trigger, yet, if it's too far away, realism suffers.

I ran an activity with the latest MSTSbin version yesterday; there were RP's and they worked fine. The question I ask is have you tried the activity with the original MSTS? It is possible the activity was faulty there as well.

Another possibility - are you certain the consist you have in the train is correct. One extra car could make it long enough to cause failure if the RP is accurately placed.

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I will need to play around with the positioning a little. I have just tested OK with some other routes but the problem I am having has occurred now with 2 different activities in London South Coast.

Doesn't sound like it is a known 'feature' with MSTS Bin anyway .
