Well there's loads isn't there...But which is the best/worst...and how about some song lyrics with them in...

Best train movie: The railway children...well I'm soppy like that.
Worst: Mission Impossible, the one with Tom Cruise in. What a pile of .. It was supposed to be a channel tunnel disaster movie originally too, until Euro tunnel said they were going to sue. he he

The best Train Movie is "The Runaway Train", and no its not a kids move.

The basis of the story is two escaped convicts in Alaska board a goods train (4 locos, no consist) hoping to get away to freedom, little do they know that the driver passed out and fell off the train as it was pulling away from the station, the result is a great film with some good (if not a little over the top) acting.

Worst train film is "Under Seige 2", the only thing that could be worse would be "Speed 3, Government control", nuff said.

In a new video by Royksopp, they are one of those little known unusual bands, there is a Green HST called a Cross-country 335, idiotic eh?
I'll think of some more movies with trains in, but the best has to be Oh Mr Porter!

BBC did an adaptation of a story by Zola (? French 19th century author anyway) called 'Cruel Train' a few years ago. Updated the story to base it in 1940s Britain. Filmed partly at Brighton station using a King Arthur with a weird cast nameplate. Also starring Adrian Dunbar, David Suchet, Minnie Driver and Saskia Reeves.

Lots of astmospheric 'blackout' situation footage, as I remember.

Personal favourite movie with a train in it was the Fast and the Furious, where two cars race down a street and cross the track a split second before a dash-9 just misses them. the cars were doing 160MPH and the dash-9 looked like with was doing 100. Yank trains never go no faster than 70? except the Acela they have on the Eastern Seaboard.

Personal favourite song is Trans Europe Express by some German band from the 70's 80's era.

How about "The Great St Trinians' Train Robbery" or whatever it's called? Plenty of decent train stuff in that... and sixth formers too...

As for songs... you just can't beat "Casey Jones".

Oh yeah... and my daughter's fave song when she was younger...

That's how I learned to drive a train.
