Crich 2007

Post by dkightley »

I've not had an official invite, but I think I'm going to be invited back to Crich for the Model Weekend ...to be held 12th/ 13th May. So, all I can say at the moment is that it's tentative!

I am likely to be seeing the event organiser during the first weekend in Feb, but I thought I'd gauge the level of interest from members beforehand....so, who's up for another (hopefully warmer) weekend in the Derbyshire hills??

I might also see if they may be interested in a smaller appearance during the Transport Extravaganza over the August Bank Holiday 26th/27th. Any potential interest for then, also??

Likewise Doug, I'll probably try and make the May weekend, i'll bring my thermals this time :) Not sure about the August bank holiday weekend yet though - thats way too far ahead for me.

Could we be indoors in the Pub this time where it was warm ;)

If we do get an invite, I'll try and get a spot in the exhibition hall where it'll be warmer.

As I said in the first post, nothing definite at all at thia stage. After last year's weekend, I was asked if we'd be interested in coming back this year, to which I replied "Yes". There's been some changes to the organising staff since then (they're all volunteers) and I'm not sure who's doing the arranging this year......but I'll find out!

Anyway, dkightley I think you may remember what I look like? Would I be able to come? I have a computer to use  I have a projector screen and projector? I could show some of my tram creations, show what a 3d game tram looks like *cough* and some of my trains :P *cough* class 23 :P

Just showing some creations can inspire anyone especially young lads…(I mean a lad like me creating loco's, just shows that any one can do it  )

My dad will be there with model trams as well :)

Cheers,
Mike

I'll hopefully be able to come for the August event, I might bring either me laptop or me PC, depending on what we feel like here at base camp. :)

You can count my son and I in for both events (+ 1 or 2 laptops and the screen if required)

Good news, everyone......

I've now had the "official" (but verbal) invite to the Model Weekend...the 12th and 13th May 2007.

We're likely to be in the same location as last year......but this time I've been assured we'll have the heaters on if its cold!

Afraid I can't do this one - the Deltic operating just down the road in Matlock is far too big a temptation.

Finally....an update!

Firstly, as this is an unofficial event, I would ask anyone who has said they would be coming to Crich who would prefer to provide support for the UKTSLive attendance at the Ashford MRC show to please go to the official show. The show organisers who invited UKTS along deserve the full support.

For those who are still wanting to come to Crich and help out, please let me know by the end of April so I can advise how many entry tickets are needed.

So far, we have at least two projectors and screens...possibly three. Miketrams has generously offered to bring along a screen & projector, and Aaron (the event organiser) also has generously offered to lend a projector & screen. I have a projector (kindly on loan from Pete) and am hoping to locate a screen to go with it.

I'm bringing my desktop so I can power one screen. I'm open to offers of laptops, etc for the other screns.

The gates are open to the public at 10:00 - 5:00 both days, but I'm likely to be there from around 8:30 to start the set-up.
