Is it even out yet?

The Rail Simulator forum was very busy leading up to the UK release on October 12th 2007, this is a read-only copy of those discussions for historic and review purposes.

Hi guys,
You know the question (it's the threads' topic name):

Is it even out yet?

Cheers,

Nope, it's scheduled for Q1 2007, which could be tommorow, or it could be March.

The point could be that there's a load of fuss about something which we can't even buy.

It's puzzled me for ages.

Not sure the Freedom of Information Act covers commercial products? :)

Been saying something similar for ages but apparently our input is vital.

Perhaps not mine though?

But then again I'm easily pleased :)

Cheers

Hi John

The FOI Act DOES cover commercial products, but only, I think, once they're released. At this stage, the developer would simply claim it's "work in progress" which would most likely be exempt from disclosure.

Aha! So, after it's released, we'll be able to force Kuju to tell us the release date? That should come in handy...

In the two years and 8 days from the announcement to the whatever? of TMTS, there was none of the demands or criticism or information we see here.

In the 18 months since the KRS was announced there's been little else for 12 months.

That is a fact.

Cheers

 The number of people seeing an announcement is an new dimensions in search of the all important question. Until now we focussed on things like "do you believe it?" - "did you see it?" is new.

The nature of web illusions is that many people can see them, even print them but they are worth nothing when the maintainer of the site changes them without giving a reason at any time.

In Autumn, there was a quite believable clustering of guessed dates on game-related site for the time before Christmas, but unfortunatelly the massive proclamation on various websites did not convince Kuju. ;-)

March 30th is a safe notion for Q1, assuming that software appears at the last moment if it is in the promissed period at all, and leaving out the nasty problem that some but not all month have 31 days.

I would rather wait a month or two longer if it means less bugs and a better quality simulation engine.

Well, I think that all of the routes have been built, so the RE must have been built, only gameplay and 1/2 engines to go now, as well as the simulation engine physics etc. Do you think that when built the Class 165 shall be in the old livery or both old new because when I went to Maidenhead the other week there were old FGWL liveries as well as the new ones.

Where is it stated that the routes are complete, and half the stocklist is done? Also, where is a 165 stated?

Same.
There is little point speculating about when KRS may or may not be released. It will be ready when it's ready. And in the meantime, there are plenty of projects we can be getting on with for MSTS.

Well, I presume that to have screenshots of Durham, and to have a demo, then they must have used the RE to make them with, and according to Richard Rogerson Studio Head in a letter reply to me the Class 165 will be made soon.

Intriguing! I travel on those nearly every day... I can only hope that they make the slightly different class 166 as well, to complete the set.
