Activity Editor
Since installing bin 1.6, I've had serious problems with the AE. When I zoom in on the route, the whole thing crashes. I've tried re-instaling but no joy. Has anyone else had similar probs

Thanx I'll give it a go. The funny thing is that ont he default routes AE is fine, but on Dorset V4 and GE and all the other add-on's it locks up and I'm reluctant to do a total uninstall/reinstall as my MSTS directory is over 20GB (thanks to Train-store) at the moment and I'll need to take a week off work to do itLad491 wrote:Im running the first version of 1.6 - not upgrade to later versions - but the editor works fine. Make sure you are only using 16 bit colour and also that you turn off any unnecessary views - 32bit colour and too many views can both be a cause of crashes as you zoom in
DONT do a reinstall - thats very rarely needed.
If it works ok on the default routes, then it the number of views that is the problem. On big routes it cant cope with all views on. Load a default route and turn everything off. then load DC or GE and turn views back on, one at a time until you find the happy medium

Constantly working on routes running under various versions of MSTS from default right up to latest MSTSBin patch have had no problems using the RE so far.
Have the installed Translated DLLs\EN\*.dll folder files been copied into the Train Simulator folder, overwriting the existing ones ?
How much available physical memory does the Task Manager tell you your computer has before running MSTS or an Editor ?
Could be that you got too many other programs running at the same time as MSTS ?

I'm running a 3.4Ghz P4 with 1Gb ram and a ATI9800 256mb graphics card. I've tried running it clean with 600Mb free ram and no other programs running in the background.OTTODAD wrote:Constantly working on routes running under various versions of MSTS from default right up to latest MSTSBin patch have had no problems using the RE so far.

I don't have any problems running the sim only with the Activity Editor. The strange thing is I havent had any problems before and it was after loading DC v4 that I noticed the problem, but nobody else seems to hav had it so it can't be DC causing the probs
