hi i know this is a basic stuff but i just wanted to know how you guys alias sounds (horns etc..) to engines you want it to go to, including freight as well

Every engine defines the sounds it uses in the *.sms files it lists in it's *.eng file, one for inside the cab *cab.sms and one for outside views *.eng.sms.
The horn.wav or similar names files these *.sms files use are listed in them and all you have to do is to replace them with others their sound you prefer using the same *.wav file name and if not rename them.
If they are used by other locos too, having been aliased to them, then all of them will hear the new horn sound.
