Can You Add A Freight Anim Panto To A Desiro?

Post by monarchgold »

Is it possible for me to add a pantograph on a model such as a class 450 desiro to make it from an AC unit to a DC. I am asking this because recently I travelled on on of the new WC desiros (which have been repainted and made AC). Can anybody help me with my question. Maybe I could add them as freight anim. Anyway - help please!

it might be possible, but i have my doubt about freight anim. You would have to contact the author of the model and the model would need to be altered (contact shoes removed aswell)

I believe that MT are bringing out a Desiro pack soon including the WC Desiros, this is probably the best option as there a few differences in the equipment needed for DC and AC, most notably, the bogie equipment as there are no 3rd rail 'shoes' on the AC versions.

COOL! Well I am no doubt going to be hitting the online shop the minute that pack comes out!

Although the shoe beams are in place, actually didn't a couple of 350's get tested between Basingstoke & Eastleigh earlier this year, temporary shoes must have been fitted.
