How to control the train in speed limit??

Post by ImCanadian »

Several times in the past I want to ask a question about how to control the train in speed limit but did not post it till now. Yes I do have the MSTS Bin 1.6 (latest version) in my program of Train Simulator. Now when I am in simulation with any route that I have in my computer. Here's for one route that I am talking is with Cajon Pass (freeware) and at the beginning of the simulation with 15 mph posted at the beginning of the simulation so I move one notch from idle to keep the train speed to a minimum but never because the train speed kept going higher and higher even with one notch like say about 50 to 80 mph in train speed limit. That's too fast for the train in one notch with 50 to 80 mph. Now what is going on with this becasue I only move one notch not all the way to notch 8 in full speed. Also all the time I have to move back to idle and apply the brakes (once or twice) to get the train speed down. Then all of sudden the train speed turn way down to 0 in speed limit and the train stop which it shouldn't be. Now my question is how to control the train in speed limit whatever the speed limit posted along the route?? Any idea or any help will be appreciated about this.

Thank you

well normally its just a case of balancing power and brake together to maintain the lower speed, which is what it sounds like you are doing. Just apply notch 1 power for a couple of seconds until you start moving and then return it to zero. If you need a little more speed use notch one again for another couple of seconds and then return it to zero again. If the speed looks a bit too fast apply a little brake and return the brake control to zero. By making small short applications of power and brake it is possible to keep a train moving at 15mph :)

Are you using simple controls ? Simple controls do not give the same degree of control that proper controls do. Go into options and if simple controls are on, turn them off :)
