Routes from south to north in UK
I seem to remember someone, a good while back, asking if it were possible to travel the length of the UK by using available routes. Can anyone remember where that thread might be? Perhaps, in the light of new routes which have appeared, there may be more answers to the question. Anyone able to shed some light, please?

With DCv4 you'll be able to change at Reading for Waterloo!I'll start it off .....Penzance to Bristol
Route is Paddington 2 Penzance (currently unavailable)
Then Bristol to Birmingham (mslwvr) available from the library.

What is interseting is that it is a historical journey too.
Starting in the steam era at Penzance. Modern day on Dorset Coast and then recent past for ECE.
Come to think of it if you wait for Mideast Plus you could take a Deltic up to York!

Be sure to search the forums for MLSWVR since there are 19 topics referring to it that probably need reading before, during or after installation.
Kindest regards

At one time there was a daily Penzance to Aberdeen service & return. This must have been the longest train in Britain both in miles covered and time taken. I always wondered about simulating the whole way!
So let's see:
So let's see:
- Penzance to Bristol on P2P?
- Bristol to BNS on MLSWVR
- Missing - BNS to Burton upon Trent
- Burton - Derby on well... Burton - Derby
- Missing - Derby to Wakefield Westgate
- Wakefield Westgate - York EB ECML Pt 2 or Mideast Plus when it comes out
- York - Newcastle - KRS when it comes out
- Missing - Newcastle to Edinburgh
- Edinburgh - Aberdeen on BVE using the Edin-Aberdeen route.
Never mind PC's....seagulls2000 wrote:All we need is to find out how EB combined LBE and WCE so easily (in relative terms) and join everything up. (yes I know nobodys PC could cope with it)

Who's got the time to run that distance?
In reality not even REAL drivers would have driven that distance....even before the days of HSE.
I think the fact that these sectors are provided means we can sample the activities of each sector and appreciate the differences.
BTW Great Eastern neither covers N/S nor the periods that I prefer but it's the "Dogs" IMHO for the state of the art MSTS route. You probably will need bin1.6 and a reasonable spec machine but I think it's the perfect "model" of a route combining Freight, Commuter and Express traffic.
Never mind the mileage......what's the traffic?
Geoff
