Combining of Two Routes

Post by sreeju444 »

Hello

Here, I am planning to make a big route passing through the western sides of India for MSTS. My friend is also involved in this project. So we are trying to make this route as two parts. You just see the picture below.

Here, the red line shows the route. I am planning to make route between Ratnagiri & Madgaon. My partner is planning to make the route between Kankanadi & Canacona. We both will use different PC s with same route folders & names. We are planning to combine the route.

Then after combining the routes, we are planning to make the track layout between Madgaon & Canacona.

I am asking you that is it possible to combine two routes? In this, we are planning to make the track layout only. After combining the routes, we are planning to make terrain, textures etc... I think that something we have to change in the .trk , .db , .tdb, .tit & .dat files. (Track files)

Yes, it is possible to join two routes with the ROUTER RITER's TSUtils - Merge function. But do not use the same names for the two parts. Call them ROUTE-A and ROUTE-B, or words to that effect, as they are best merged from the same ROUTES folder in MSTS.

Providing the tiles of the routes do not overlap, all that is required after merging them is to put down the tracks/roads to connect them and then carry on filling it with objects and vegetation.

In fact two completely finished routes can be merged that way, including all interactive objects and activities used by either and depending on the order in which they are merged, all of it will assume the environments and vegetation of one of the parts if they are different.

Here I have joined the Shelby to Whitefish part of Frank Carver's and mine MARIAS-KOOTENAI route with the minus Whitefish part of the WHITEFISH-7-RR, after removing the overlapping tiles first and then connecting the tracks where the GOLDEN SPIKE was hammered into one of it's ties in old Wild West fashion !
