Records of Derailments
Has anyone got any knowledge of any records kept by BR or the present rail companies on the subject of locomotive derailments?
How many there have been, which locomotives went through life without derailing (the majority i should imagine). Of course a derailment doesnt have to be a catastrophic disaster like many tabloids would have you thinking, i seem to remember a preserved Peak working a freightliner not all too long ago because of a derailment that 'trapped' Freightliners locomotives on the shed! If anyone has any idea id be interested.
i have a photo of 58020 derailed at Redditch station of all places on our site. see link http://britishrail.fpic.co.uk/p35325955.html

Sorry I don't have a clue where you could find such data. BUT the number of locomotive derailments is huge; think how many 08's come off bad sections of track each year.
My Dad used to be Derailment Investigator until a few years ago and he attended many derailments that you just wouldn't know about, numerous ones a year happened and the loco would simply me re-railed.
I know there is one class 37 that is notorious at coming off sets of points.

Didnt 40's & 45's fall off the track quite often (lead wheelset) ?
Although not a loco but.......
I know we have a 158 on ATW named Damien that has derailed in canton a few times at least, its also the same unit that threw a prop shaft about 140 foot into a field on the salop-crewe line once. Hence the name.

Wales & Borders(BR) V3.1 status.
Re-released for RW. Hopefully some of you will get it to work this time.
