Hi Sabrina
"Is it a challenge for you to create such a complex model?
The challenge is not the complexity; the artists always want to add more. The complicated part is gathering all the correct material to help model it. Making sure we have the right drawings with the correct scale, and enough photographs to help us understand the intricate details".

and then actually getting it to look like the real thing in the sim.......opps fell over at the last hurdle....IMO of course.
If thats the finished model...........sorry but I'm not impressed at all.
I can't see anything has been altered since it was first shown and commented on by the forums, last month.
Cheers
Jon

23,000 'kujus' as the baseline, eh? Hmmmm, should be good for stuff up to 4 or 5 times that, in theory? Good Grief! The purists will want 3d rivets! The Deltic 55 has around 23,000 triangles, it has 2 square 1024/1024 textures used for the bulk of the main body, a 512/512 texture for the bogies and a number of smaller textures for the transparent elements and the cabin.
Cheers Bazza

Yes as a non modeller, I didn't really want to comment....but haven't we already had MSTS models in this region?
As to 3d rivets, would be nice....but the main thing is the finished model looks like the prototype, however thats achieved.
Its been written many times, that models built exactly to scale and plans, just don't look right in the game.....and thats where the fiddling starts and the skill lies.
I totally agree about the bogies, they look like the ones used to transport bodies round the Plant.
Cheers
Jon

HST 20,000 , HST Cab 20,000 - HST Cars ??? . and we need to allow for other stock + route scenery , so maybe 50,000 to 60,000 for a Loco + Cab - tops - is my guess . This still gives plenty of room for detail without detracting from performance on low/medium spec machines, and you can bump the rivets in the textures.CaptainBazza wrote:

Where a lot of modellers seem to let themselves down is that, as Jon says, the final model just doesn't look like the real thing. Build it to the plans the let a few people who have spent time with the locos have give their opinion - with a few amendments this could be a fantastic model. As it is, it will just disappoint, and annoy me, every time I use it.... I'm not a rivet counter, I just like the model to look like the real thing rather than an interpretation of it.....

To me, it looks quite good. If I compare it to the photographs found on the internet, then Kuju made good job.
For those, who are not satisfied, you will be able to "upgrade" models. If you want, you could make deltic with milions of polygons. But Kuju knows, that not everyone have supercomputer on a desktop.

The only thing I can see thats wrong is the headcode box appears to be too small, shouldn't be too hard to put right

Sorry to disappoint you, but you should not think you made a new joke.3DTrains wrote:And probably of the correct diameter too.CaptainBazza wrote:Good Grief! The purists will want 3d rivets!
On another forum, someone stated that the rivets on the Black 5 look much too large (and the whole texture would look leather-like). That was last summer or so, therefore please don't ask me for details or reference, but I am quite sure I read it somewhere.

Hmmm.. to quote a saying from the Auran forums (and most other places), if you don't like it build it yourselves
After all GMax is free, PSP is cheap and thr other 3d editor I can't remember the nameofcosI'vebeendrinking is relatively cheap to register the full version.
PS. In my defense I spent 6 months making and scripting a GWR 5 plank wagon for Trainz, just to make it authentic.
C'mon the purists.
