Not recently - just finishing off a few other projects and writing a talk for the convention - should restart work on her after that.

[KRS,MSTS,TRS,MSTSX....] WIP Update

Post by decapod »

A small update on the models listed before to show I'm still working on them :)

My next release is actually none of these and should be ready soon which will give me more time to get these finished off.

No fancy rendering to give a false impression of the finished model ;)

It shows how long it's been since I did very much modelling - dragging up an 18 month old thread.

I've had a bit of a model spurt to recover some sanity after programming for ages.
Both will appear for MSTS and TRS.

The now obligatory "renders" have been done - these should have disclaimers attached to say this is not how they will appear in the sim!

Plenty of reference for Big Bertha here....

Notice the kids on the footplate in one of the shots as it waits for the next banking job. Nowadays they won't allow ANYBODY near locomotives or trains because apparently we're now all too stupid to realised that 100ton plus machine might represent a hazard :-? ...but I posted the link because I thought some folk might like to see the loco ...not to spark a Health and Safety debate  .

Decapod,

I don't want to be pedantic but Big Bertha wasn't the only 0-10-0 to run on British railways, the first was the Holden 0-10-0t built in 1902 by the Great Eastern .

Although it proved a point it was a dead loss & didn't last long.

regards
Richard

I have a fair amount of info on the GER one, but for some reason it doesn't appeal that much - probably because it didn't last as long.
I seem to remember hearing the PW gangs hated it and it wasn't allowed over a lot of bridges.

BB has progressed a bit since the last pic here too, I've almost finished the tender too

Wonderful! :D The thing about the GER decapod was that it was intended to prove a point, not really to be practical (the jazz trains did just fine with 0-6-0 tanks after all) - to this end it might even be true the results were rigged to make sure that the engine could compete with electric locos. Job done, it didnt really have a role afterwards.
