Class 37 Diesel for Kuju Rail Simulator

Post by g0fthick »

Ok, so i scrapped my last project as i didn't have enough plans/resources, and haven't seen the locomotive in question for about 8 years.

So i've started something new, that i'm sure a few of you will be quite eager to get your hands on when KRS is released, i'm not saying what it is though, i'm going to let you guess

Image

The loco is currently 596 triangles, i reckon i'm on track (geddit?) to hitting my aim for this, so far i've spent about 40 minutes on this. The reason it took so long to get so little done is i ended up screwing up and not realising until it was to late to go back, so i hate to rebuild part of the body, it's fine now.

So, what it is?

Progress isn't too bad, but that front section took me forever to get to what it is now, still needs a lot of work too -.-;;

Ok, last update for tonight/this morning.

I think i have the front part nailed, i'll look at it tommorow when i'll be more with it.

Image

And no, i don't know what that little dark grey speck is at the back, i'll fix it later.

4090 triangles right now, considering my target was 25000 and the main body is done now, i'm pretty confident i'll get this done well within my limit.

Hi
I'm just wondering whether...as a professional artist...you could sell these models of yours to Kuju.
(I'm assuming this is another one which won't run in MSTS)
Then we would have a good selection of UK outline with the basic game.
Cheers

Well, it certainly wont be going into msts

Whilst i may appear as a professional artist to the untrained eye, i haven't even started my University course in Computer Games Art yet, and i'm totally self taught.

Also, i'm not sure what Kuju's slant is on this, but i'd rather retain the rights to the model, also i'd rather provide it to the community for free.

Last update for a little while, the wheel area took me so much time that i'll end up not wanting to come back to this again if i don't take a break.

Image

It's 11,850 triangles right now, meaning i have about 13,000 more to finish her off.

Edit

Image

Realised the first render didn't really show much of the detail of the wheel section, so here it is zoomed in. Whether or not the game will allow the player to zoom this close or not is debatable, but even at this level it holds up pretty well.

I realise the nose needs shortening, but could you point out what niggly bits you are referring to?
