Mark Shipman?

Post by RH170 »

Hi,
I'm trying to contact Mark Shipman, but I have a feeling he has moved on from MSTS. I looked at the last post he made on this forum, but that was in 2004, so it seems he has disappeared. Does anyone have his regular email address which he uses often, as I need to contact him regarding permissions.

Thanks in advance,
RichardH

Looking on UKTS for a model by him gives his email address.

Hi
Mark virtually retired from all PC work due to RSI.
You can re-skin any of Marks superb models exept the Deltics, and upload them to UKTS.
Cheers

Hi Mike
Your best bet is to contact Matt..........as I believe Mark donated the models to the community, in the care of UKTS.
Some of his models have appeared on donationware already...I assume permissions were obtained and granted.

That's a shame.
It is also a shame that I cannot reskin his Deltics, as I was hoping to create a 55022 ROYAL SCOTS GREY model, which has now been permanently homed at the ELR after it's excellent overhaul.

Ah well! :(

Hi
Already done one

http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?p=700271

There's to be one included with the ELR diesel CD, presumably they have managed to contact Mark and obtained permission.

When I was last able to speak to Mark, if memory serves, while he didn't exclude anything, what he did specifically grant was anything that fit the current UKTS model - i.e. reskins for download and inclusion of his work on £4.50 cd's.

I don't know his position on donationware, I suspect he would be happy with it if it as long as it's all going to a good cause, but as I say, he didn't mention that to me.

Matt.

Hi there

I have posted a reply in the RSG screenshot thread, thought i'd put it in here too.

I have always been happy for people to upload reskins of my models, i'm not sure where the idea that there's a ban on Deltic reskins came from, possibly a misunderstanding I did say I was not keen on fictional liveries, but thats quite a different thing.

I'm also happy for my models to be used on not for profit CD's etc, people dont need to ask first.

I do check in now and then on the site, I like to keep up with whats happening, its nice to see my old models still being repainted and uploaded, glad you are still enjoying them.

My arms have never really recovered from all the late nights building locos, so I try and limit the time I spend on the PC, I would probably struggle a bit if I did try and create something now it was a steep learning curve, and i've slipped back down it.

I have found a another challenge to occupy my time and wallet, racing fast electric model boats follow the Model Boats link from here http://web.ukonline.co.uk/markshipman/ to have a look.

Hi Martin

Yep thats one of my favorite bits too

http://web.ukonline.co.uk/markshipman/r ... lass55.htm

Sadly I was not at The Cross January 2nd 1982, travel from Devon was not easy and being 17 (cant believe it was that long ago) I was broke !

I have spent most of my working life within walking distance of Kings Cross but there's been no reason to go there since 1981.
