BR Mk2 question

Post by Karsini »

What's the maximum permitted speed for Mark 2 stock in the UK? Here in Ireland we have a Mk2d fleet fitted with vacuum brakes (due to the fact that in 1972 we had 60 locos with no air braking) so are limited to 75mph. I'm just wondering if the air braked versions in the UK can go any faster?

Not sure for all of them but up until very recently the FGW Night Riviera used mk2 sleeper coaches and that was listed on the FGW site as having a max speed of 95 mph.
