MSTS sound

Post by organist123 »

Hi all,

Got a slightly odd query and would appreciate any suggestions.
I recently bought a new (high-end) system and have reinstalled MSTS on it. Whilst everything is working fine, the only sounds that I can get on any train are the basic rumblings of the train (ie no specific engine or horn sounds). What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums,

Do you have a sound card installed on your new PC. I found that this affected my sounds when I got a new PC?

Regards

James.

Hi Pianoplayer, :) Could you provide a little bit more info, like which trains are you trying to run, on what routes, have you downloaded any sounds into your common sounds folder, because alot of engine sounds are alised to this. So the more you can tell use the more help we can give :)

Regards

Ron P :)

As far as I'm aware I have an integrated audio system (is this the same as a sound card?). With regards what I'm hearing, there is a slight rumbling with some trains but only during certain speed zones. When using the external views I get no sound at all and I get no 'run away driver' or 'ok to proceed' voices. This includes all trains including both default and downloaded.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

In MSTS, go into Options and select Sound. Drag the Quantity of Sounds slider to High. Hopefully that will sort it for you, though I'm trying to troubleshoot some sound issues myself and it can get messy...
