why do young people hate trains

hi i would like to ask why do young people hate trains and always try to disrupt the running as last saturday i was trvelling from bury to heywood and just before broadfield bank some lads i think they were 15-19 year olds and i thought they should know better.and i dont understand why they dont get into railways as they are one part of britian that could not be lost.
im a young lad and i love trains.

dude, I have alway from an early child that i have loved trains, and now i work with a Railway company as an Apprentice, i so work on a hertiage railway as a Passed Cleaner that is way hobblie, my twin Bother doesn't like trains he hasn't got a hobblie so i feel very lucky to have one, one reason why i like trains is that how much engineering has gone to build beaufal michanes

im 17 and i've been intrested in railway's since i can remeber, also i've been volunteering at the SVR for about 2 yrs now, currently at B'North MPD and volunteered on the ESR for a 1yr.

The reason why i like trains is the amazing engerineering that have gone into the locomotives

I liked trains from the age of 8. There is this thing round here though between using the trains and the bus. If you use the bus your 'hard' and if you use the train your gay. So I find it a laugh how we can get onto our train at West Kirby after school while everybody packs themselves onto a tiny single decker bus. I have won some of the crowd over, and some use the trains from time to time now, although some without a ticket

! I constantly get asked 'why do I get the train?', and I just say 'The bus passes the station. Five minutes later, the train arrives, 8 minutes later I'm in West Kirby, and 5 minutes later, that same bus arrives'.

iv only been into railways for about 4-5 year, and only got into it when i had to go out with me dad to an engineers site! if me mum had been avilable to keep an eye on me i wouldnt be intrested in railways at all!

At the time, I found standing close to a 66 as it were moving off realy fasinating and so impressive that a "thing" as it was to me then, could move such heavy loads.....and from that day, iv just got more of an intrest to the stage i am today

I loved trains from when i was 5 and then got the technical side when i was 10. Its something that draws me to them. I'm 14 by the way

When you say "you people", which i guess from the way you worded it aims it at everyone here.... why would someone be on this forum if they did not like trains?

Saying "I'm x and I like trains" doesn't really get to the root of the issue. I would say that almost 100% of the users of this site like trains.

Anyway, regarding the original question, I doubt these kids have any opinions on railways, they're just archetypal "bored teenagers" with nothing better to do than drink weak cider and trash bus stops.

Obviously you'd get all the "ha ha trainspotter" jibes if you told them "i'm x and I like trains", but that's just because they're narrow minded morons rather than because they "hate" trains.

I don't think many teenagers have any opinions about anything. I know many people who have nothing but negative opinions and claim the world is boring. It's a bit depressing really, but I fear it's true - trust me I'm 18! Teenagers will rarely find anything interesting.

I know this thread probably isn't the best place to ask this, but I was brought up surrounded by railways as I'm from a family of railwaymen. However, the reason I stick with them is that they have a sort of charm and character to me - something poetic if you will. Does anyone else here see things from my perspective? The thing is that I have little interest in engineering (though I do like the operational aspect of railways), which seems to be the main attraction for many here.

Just to add to that - 'set fire to bins, throw life rings into the river, hit trees with sticks...'

Only simple people come to the conclusion that just because people are not hardcore enthusiasts, they must hate trains. Perhaps those who are not enthusiasts just see trains as a means to travel..... Why can people not understand that?
