Problem with brakes off key on new machine

Post by Retro »

Hi,
Just got a new machine and the program runs great.
However all keys respond except the Train brakes on key. I have not got simple controls ticked. Alt + Tab does not seem to work either. The brakes will apply but only with the mouse. I have tried this with another keyboard but still the same. Direct X diagnostics show everything there is O.K.
My Computer Spec is below

Microsoft XP Professional Media Centre 2005 with SP2.
Intel Pentium Dual Core D940 3.2ghz
NVidia Geforce 7600 GS 512mb Ram
2 gigs of DDR2 Ram
Realtek High Definition Audio
2X 300 gig Serial ATA Hard Drives 7200 rpm
Direct X 9c v-4.09 0000 0904
Pheonix Award Bios V-6.00 PG

Is anything in the above spec liable to cause a problem. I was running the program before on my old machine with SP1 and Direct X 9C without problem with the same keyboard.
The 2 updates have been installed and the Editor and Tools program works fine on the new machine.
Any Ideas much appreciated. I don't really want have to set up my old machine again just for MSTS.
Thanks and Regards
James

Hi James
Thats quite interesting....as this came up just the other week.
I wonder if something on WinXP or DirectX has changed?

See if this helps you

Why not try re-mapping the brake controls to something else (like <>) in keyboard options.

Hope you don't try to drive a loco with dynamic brakes afterwards....
But re-mapping was the conclusion in the thread I posted above.
I'm interested to know whats changed on these latest PCs....very strange. :-?

I also had the same problem after i installed MSTS on my Dell Notebook.

I got around the problem by re-mapping the keys.

There's 1 question i have - is anybody using MSTS with Media Cente and Not getting this problem.

Mike.

I would love any answers to above also. Media Centre has changed the way some of my other programs used to work on the old system.
