Can Anyone Tell Me

Post by petethetim »

Apart from the Obvious GNER & Virgin Trains are there any other companies run regular cross border service from England or Wales to Scotland & do EWS run Passenger Trains or are they purely a Freight Company , Sorry if this sounds stupid but I have not been across to Scotland since 2003 & England since 2002 Due to Ill Health The last time I took a train from England to Scotland it was a Sleeper from Carlisle up to Fortwilliam & it was hauled by a Transrail 37

Peter

Well the Caledonian Sleeper (i.e all the cross border sleeping trains) are I believe now owned by First Scotrail.

I think EWS still currently have the contract to convey the First Scotrail Sleeper services to/from Edin/Glasgow- London using 90s, from Edinburgh-Inv/Abdn and 37 to Fort Bill.

Last I heard, there was word of dedicated 90s being done out in FSR Caledonian Sleeper Livery.

The Class 90 hauls the sleeper from London Euston to Edinburgh where there is a loco change to a 37 or 67
