Personally Pete, if you have the original I'd wait for the extended "Plus" version currently in development, unless you particularly want the improved stock. The improved stock will probably be the same on the Plus version when its eventually released.

Just as a little addition to this thread -

I have ordered the updated CD. I do have the original. I was about to pay £3 for another months premium, but I decided I would pay an extra £1.50 to have the patched route and some more up to date stock on a CD :) as well as my months sub.

Cheers

I will probably order the new CD but it does pose an interesting issue for activity writers. If they write an activity using the old CD stock then that presumably locks out the new CD purchasers and vice versa ? If a keen newcomer puts together an activity using the new CD stock then people who bought the old version will possibly be stuck trying to run it since they won't have the stock. You only have to look at the problems with the Dorset Coast activities to see where that could lead.

I have been sat here trying to figure out all the combinations but it does look like a small problem to me.

I am not critising anyone - just musing out aloud at the potential downline effects.

This is too complicated to think about right now so I think I'll go watch some TV.

Kindest regards

You are exactly right John - it is a problem. Ive already hit a snag with CD exclusive stock having to write two versions of the same activity, one for CD owners and one for Downloaders. Now it looks like we could possibly need three or even four versions of the same activity for all the different versions.

Im not sure what im going to do yet. :(

If you're referring to the just-returned CD with updated stock, then there will be no problems...see http://www.uktrainsim.com/index2.php?fo ... report=863

If you're referring to the yet-to-be-released updated Mideast route...then you will probably be right.

MidEastPlus will probably be download only initially as it takes quite a while to get stock and activities organised for a new route. The problem is the size of the will be very large.
