Talyllyn Railway download HELP

Post by prairie4566 »

Hi all

Last night I started to download the Talyllyn Railway from this site and it's now finished. When I double - click on the compressed zip file an error comes up saying:

"The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted".

Any ideas?

This looks like a series of "spanned" zip files, which I don't think the Windows XP built-in file de-compressor can handle. You'll need to use WinZip to unzip these files before you can istall the route.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

The easy solution is of course to purchase the CD which comes compete with activities, and rolling stock. excellent value for money.

I think that's a better idea - less hassle and excellent value for money. I also noticed that £2 goes as a donation to the railway.

Hi Stephen.
I got the Talyllyn CD a while back, it loads everything no trouble, well worth it. Have run the little trains a lot but just got the update patch.
Now it drives much better and there is a suprise up the track.
Not a big route but very enjoyable I reccomend it. CU Eric

It's a while since I did this original version but if I remember correctly, the zip file is a single file (no spanned files) containing one self installer file and a readme so if you have trouble openning it with winzip, then the file must have been corrupted in the download. You'll have to download again, I'm afraid.
Mind you, if you get the CD version, it's a much improved route. :D

I'm looking forward to getting my disk. I'm also tempted by:

Scottish Central
Yorkshire Coast
SVR Diesel Gala

Hi all.

We've ordered the Talyllyn 2.02 CD, the SVR Diesel Gala and Yorkshire Coast. Does anybody have any info on these CDs' contents please?

Hello Stephen, I have all three of them and they are great, just out of curiosity, you do have the main Seven Valley Railway CD because the Diesel Gala is an add on for it.

Hi Ron

Yes, I've got the SVR CD. Just thought I might buy the Diesel Gala CD to quickly add to the SVR diesels without downloading much.

Hi Stephen, Good. The Yorkshire Coast is very good, you can run the full
length of the North York Moors route Railway from Pickering to Whitby. :)

Stephen

I can't recommend Gordon Mackenzie's Bala Hub route highly enough. It's not available at present but look for it in the CD store once the withdrawn files have been replaced and it is available again.

It's hugely atmospheric and has a really good mixture of steam and a few early diesel activities, some of which are quite challenging. This was the first add-on route I ordered from UKTS and it remains my favourite to this day, despite having 51 other routes in my MSTS configuration. Superb!

cheers

Rather like Ashley and the Bala Hub, I have had Skipton 1920 for some long time and it is one of the best; well worth looking for when it again becomes available.

Hi all

Talyllyn, YCR and SVR Diesel Gala came in the post this morning. :D The Talyllyn CD is brilliant and I've had a good go on Yorkshire Coast. But the Diesel Gala add on stops working when I click Install. :-? Dad says he thinks he knows the problem though. :D

Thanks for advice and suggestions all. The Talyllyn CD was worth waiting for. :D
