Does anyone remember excitedly waiting for the release of Train Simulator in 2001? Or remember the first downloads available on t-s.com which enabled you to drive the Royal Scot and Pendennis Castle models that were originally only ai engines?
I no longer use any of the default routes or rolling stock but if one puts the original locomotives in a consist with both what is available on this site and what is available commercially the amount of progress that has been made in five years is truly astounding. I don't post regularly on these forums but I read them as often as I can and I know that the progress has been rocky at times but I wish to express my gratitude to everyone involved in making my train sim experience so much better. I didnt think that I'd be able to take an A4 out of Kings Cross with 14 on or skip along the South Devon Railway with a 45XX but thanks to the tireless efforts of many I can.

I remember the Reg No of my first car (706 PPD), and even it's key number (FP 713), but can I remember where i'm at with the various MSTS loco builds I have on the go currently.....................

Tis a funny thing, but I read the reviews and decided not to buy it when it was new. I didn't think I would pay money to drive the LNER Flying Scotsman over the LMS Settle to Carlisle route. At the time I thought the freeware Black Five simulator would be more exciting, or the possibility of a Windows version of Bryan Atwell's Steam Locomotive Simulator.

Twas was only by accident in 2004 that I discovered there were MR and LMS locos and stock and many other routes and UKTS! So I missed all the excitement of the early years... Still I look forward to getting an early start with KRS and TMTS.

(Actually I am hoping the new Sims will give me more information about performance, speed, coal and water consumption, hp output and so on much as provided by Steam Locomotive Simulator.)

One of our volunteers had a REALLY senior moment the other week, got out the house to the car, thought, blimey, it's a bit nippy, and realised he's out there in his underpants................

Yes, I admit, I have both Spectrum and Atari emulators, makes MSTS seem like SUCH a leap forward when you go back.......

The first time I ran MSTS I wondered if I'd ever turn it on again........

You may laugh at our old buses Mike, but if anyone ever triggers an EMP bomb and zaps all the computer chips, guess who's vehicles will STILL be going strong.................AND they'll run on just about any fuel going from cow manure methane to coal gas to paraffin
