Amazon and London-Brighton Route

Post by parsfan »

I'd been thinking for some time of buy the London-Brighton route. I was looking around at prices and happened on the Amazon site. I read some of the reviews. After that i'm not sure i'd touch it with a barge pole. Out of 11 reviews only 2 rated it, some of the reviews were the worst i've ever read for a game with the reviewers saying DO NOT BUY.
I see now why the cover doesn't show an actual screen shot.

Notwithstanding any reviews, I bought it - it was my main reason for starting to use MSTS again and i think its a great route. Scenery is best viewed from the cab as there is little distant scenery, there are a few kinks in the track but, unlike some people, i think that adds to the enjoyment with speed limts etc. There are some good activities included with the route and, of course, i did upwards of 20 extra. There must be dozens altogether.

I'd ignore the reviews and get it. Its a great addon - not one of the top 5 admittedly, but certainly in the top 10 in my book :)

These types of user "reviews" can be a bit subjective. I don't know what sort of moderation these companies apply (if any) but it seems rather too easy for someone with an axe to grind to post a negative opinion while the developer's mate (and this is talking theoretically to avoid squashing any toes) in return for a couple of beers writes a glowing review!

If you visit GameFAQ's and look at the user reviews of MSTS, two of those are written by people who are quite obviously Trainz fanboys and have no interest in being objective.

Oh my - they could have been subtle - I did try trainz and didn't get on with it, if they fix the problems in TRS2006 I might dig it out again

I enjoy the route, particularly after the upgrading using the add pack!

Every now and then I drive it again, however when I first got it I was always driving it!

Yeh I will second that, I think it's a good route, although obviously it is a bit dated now. I also agree some of the reviews on Amazon are well worth ignoring. In fact most of them.....

Good Good, was kind of hoping i'd get this response. I'm now considering it again but not from Amazon as it can be bought cheaper.

And why did I not read the UKTS review doh. I read the review before I bought LSE and that review persuded me.........................Even if I am disapointed Chislehurst has no houses.

London Brighton

For a shortish commuter route with very little outside views, it is very playable. Particularly if you have the Lad491 addon activities.

Avoid Brighton Portsmouth like the plague!

I would also suggest that Kingsx/Peterborough is very disappointing, with very little train stock, no freight, and poor activities. Typical aerosoft really!
