must say aswell i wouldnt call the 442s recent touch ups a "refurb" i am looking forward to it though having only travelled swts network on the line from cosham junction to brockenhurst and from dorking-victoria but that was on a southern 455 and i have numerous times been on their emus,dmus along the west coastway but that is southern owned.

Last night on my way home from Waterloo, the 442 on the ajoining platform was defective and everyone had to get off of it, much to my amusement . a friend also had his train cancelled due to a broken down 442 last week

This offer is not much different to what you can get with a 'groupsave'.
Might be better if theres only 3 people going, but for a foursome its no better that I can see, unless there are more destinations thant groupsave.

looks like the biggest benefit is to 2 people going, as they don't get the "groupsave" bonus. I think.

I get better bonuses with my Gold Card (though I did have to pay £3408 for it!). The £1 Network Card I got for the missus has already paid for itself about 6 times, and she's only used it once.

Have been externally refurbished; motors and bogies and stuff like that, nothings changed on the inside.

ok thanks didnt realise the motors had had a refurb.

today was very good. first time i had been on a 442(non refurb) from what ive seen today dave has done a very good job of dorset coast
i was itching to get back to run the route on trainsim

They've refurbed the motors? presumably they will still sound the same - you can here a 442 accelerating for miles around but it still doesn't beat sitting in the centre coach.

They have probably just used the old WD40 and been done with it!

Well I don't know what the exact details are, if the motors sound the same they probably haven't done anything to them, more likely bogies and stuff, but they have certainly done something down below.

They will have overhauled the motors (I presume), which involves taking them to bits, cleaning, renewing worn out parts, and putting them back together. So they'll be like they were before, just (in theory) nearer to their as new condition.
