In-Tunnel Advertising

Post by ianm42 »

I am told that the system has been in use in Japan for some time, but Munich S-bahn have now installed an advertising system in the tunnel between Karlsplatz and Marrienplatz. It projects moving pictures, that move along the tunnel in sync with the train, so if you look out of the window, it looks like a flickery TV picture is being suspended outside the window.

I will try an get a video of it, if it works.

I don't know about the rest of you but I tend to keep my eyes focused inside the train when underground. As much as I appreciate the usefulness of underground tunnels, their eye appeal....at least internally is not much.

The Ad Man will always devise a new way of trying to sell you something.

Somehow I think most Londoners will be spared such advertising - the problems of fitting Liquid Crystal Displays in a 13-foot diameter tube are best avoided.

Perhaps they could get companies to sponsor train journies....I can see it now......."the 16.09 Newcastle to Kings Cross was brought to you by Tescos".

"I sorry to announce that the 9.09 Northern service Macclesfield to Manchester Oxford Road service brought to you by Tesco has been delayed by 5 mins due to the 9.10 Virgin London Euston to Manchester brought to you by Sainsbury has been delayed by a price war"!

I'm doing Business Management at Uni and all big corporate firms are finding new ways to sponosor themselves, I read some time back that big corporate logo's have been banned from going into Space (no joke).
