Ffestiniog Railway January Service

Post by Frsimplex1993 »

Hi,
Recently the Ffestiniog Railway (FfR) have been running trains about a 1/4 way up the line for coach partys. ( http://www.festrail.co.uk/Timetables200 ... rjan06.htm ) i went in this morning to see the loco been preped and saw Mr Bruce Brayne of SPTS cleaning the loco!:
Image (I didn't want to stop him working!)
I helped to clean after I ajusted to the cold weather.
I cleaned that tank 3 times!:

When the loco got back off it's trip up the line i helped fill the bunker up with coal and rake the ash out.

I would mind you doing those jobs this summer if it takes you 3 attempts to clean a tank.

Hopefully I'll be able to do it pretty quick if I end up doing that in summer ;)

Sound's like you've got some duff firemen filling those tanks, either that or a useless valve on a watertower somewhere!!!
And even water can't strip polish off that easily, I question how well it had been polished in the first place.

They fill tanks up with a hose pipe at Boston Lodge. The tank didn't look good with all the water over it's side. Does the video work?

That wasn't meant to sound like that - just wondered what made you like that one more than the others?

Please stop being so critical and dismissive, you might not know the whole story. People in glass houses...
