NSE 465 not loading

Post by RobindeJones »

I've had real trouble with this loco and am pulling out my hair!
Everytime I install it & attempt to run it I get the following message
"unable to place train in world (uid 200000)" & then 200001 onwards depending on the number of coaches. If i try and run an activity the same thing happens for each individual coach.
I have removed all the NSE 465 files, consists, & activities relating to it. Downloaded it again and reinstalled. Same problem.
On another computer with MSTS it ran first time, so it's not the file, but my computer. :o
This is the only problem Ive had with any unit at all that Ive not solved, but I now have no idea.
I also noticed last night in MSTS consist editor the picture of both the engine and the coaches for the NSE465 did not appear. All other units did.
It's obviously not the model, but something about my conputer. Any ideas - I want to play the GNER eastcoast activities & cant!!

Its possibly using a 1024x1024 texture file which some video cards object too.

Don't think they do...

and I can confirm they do not..

Maybe its a consist in an activity ? Installed it to a different location ?

Is you MSTS installed to the default location ?

I've had the exact same problem with the NSE 165, the 121 Bubble car and a class 37

After looking at the readme file for the class 37 I suspect the problem may be because I have aVoodoo 5 (64Mb) graphics card installed and the 37's readme says "this model does not work with voodoo cards".

What graphics card do you have RobindeJones? If it's a voodoo card then I think we've found the problem.

465 and video cards.

Post by RobindeJones »

I've just looked at the 465 again (...after a bit of a break)! My video card is an internal Trident blade 3d job not a Vodoo job, so thats not it. I also tried the other models you mentioned, and they all worked - so its something with this model on my machine.
Have looked at it in MSTS consist builder, and all my other models show the little picture. The 465 does not - wierd!
Also conbuilder does not like some of the files, and the consist supplied.
Can't figure it at all. Ive seen it working on another machine so it's obviously my computer not the model.
Anybody else got any ideas??

I just downloaded the NSE465 to have a look at it. The .zip file loads the model into Trainset\NSE465 whereas the consist points to a folder named 'Class 465' - So if you use the supplied consist, MSTS crashes.

I then unzipped the file to a temporary folder and copied the contents to Trainset\Class 465 and copied the consist to the Consists folder and all works fine.

If you still have problems then it may be your graphics card, I went to the MSTS troble shooter and told it my card was missing features.

I then went back to MSTS and although the graphics were ., The 165 I was having problems with did appear in both the activity editor and the game itself, The 37's which failed to work also appeared.

I have since dumped the voodo 5 and purchased a new graphics card.

My hard disk became poorly at the weekend (poor thing) so a reload was required! Ive got the latest video driver and a fresh load of MSTS. I'll try the 465 first and see if i get it. If not its def video card. If it works just my computer being a sod
Cheers for the suggestions guys....this is thge only one Ive so far had any real probs with

NSE 465 sorted

Post by geordiesteve »

:P ForburyLion is right, this is a Voodoo problem. I had the same bother with the NSE 465 with a Voodoo 3 agp card installed. After reading of the suspected source of the problem I decided to purchase a G-Force 3 agp card (now i'm 95 quid out of pocket, but worth every penny). Now when i run the game i have no more problems with the NSE 465.

Ps I must thank simuk for the activity, goingnorth for the route and anyone else involved. I would really love to see the full London to Edinburgh route to be covered one day.
