Replacement of Scenery items for community CD's

Post by decapod »

We have had a few offers to replace files for the community CD's, I am still waiting for a few more replies to PM's from others who offered.

The remaining list of unallocated models is as follows :
  • Sheep_0.3b.zip Sheep 0.3b Includes head down version
    Flying_Seagull.zip Seagull Soaring
    Ducks.zip Three ducks a swimming
Women02.zip The girls are back in town
Men01.zip The good the bad and the ugly
    Pheasant.zip . Pheasant
    Pigs.zip Saddleback Pig
    FodenLorries.zip Foden Lorries
    Swans.zip Swans
    Coypu01.zip Coypu
    Rabbits01.zip Rabbit
    Cats01.zip Cats
    Butterflies01.zip Butterflies
    Geese01.zip Geese
    Horse_CartSet.zip Horses and carts/carriage
ClassyLadies+Friend.zip Classy ladies return with friends
FloatingPlants01.zip Floating pond plant Nymphoides peltata
    WaterPlants01.zip Marginal water plants
    Castle_01.zip A real British Castle
    Offices_01.zip Offices
    SheepDog_01.zip Border Collie
    Backdrops_01.zip Low Detail Backdrops
    VirginGirlKate.zip Kate
DDBuses_01.zip Low Headroom Double Deck bus based on Bristol 'K'
    DemoiselleCrane.zip Demoiselle Crane
Currently allocated are :
  • Poultry.zip Chickens and Cockerel
    MilkFloat.zip Electric Milk Float
Hg_wh01.zip Colliery Headgear and Winding House
    SoaringBirds01.zip Soaring Birds
    Greenhouse01.zip Domestic Greenhouse
    Fire01.zip Pallet pile burning
    StatelyHome_01.zip Hall or Stately Home
    Pub01.zip Dove Pub
What I need now is for the others who have offered to help to select 2-3 items and either post here or let me know which ones.

What we need is models that use exactly the same S file name so they can just be dropped in place (The texture names do not need to be the same)

It may be best to post questions on this thread to find out what is contained in each Zip or to ask for images of the original models to assist with the rebuild.

I would also like route builders to let us know what their priorities are.

I will try and do these myself if possible, if not I will get to work on some of the people models.
Unfortunately I have less spare time at weekends - hopefully John Carr will be able to help out with replies, so please post questions/offers here rather than PM or e-mail.

I can do an office building and a castle but do they need to be exactly the same size as the original ?

Paul,

I can see a potential problem here if you use the exact same names as the ones withdrawn, designers could get in a pickle and not know which one came from where, leading to more future rucus.

Appreciate keeping the same name makes it very easy for route designers to simply drop the new ones in but the names may well lead to future misunderstandings.

Add to that some donation ware routes will use Terrys items yet commercial CDs will also use exact same items with exact same names but from a different source.

I think l've tried to explain as best l can.

With care, it should be possible to locate the filename in the World files and add say a UKTS prefix. That should get over the problem...

I do not know whether Paul has left the forum to deal with family matters for the rest of the day, but he has asked me to keep an eye on things whilst he is away.

Please note I am not a builder, modellor etc, I just love driving trains, so technical questions are beyond me. But as offers come in I will add them to the list that Paul and I are maintaining between us and acknowledge each one, so Don I acknowledge your offer of the office building and castle, Castle_01.zip A real British Castle
Offices_01.zip Offices, and I'll make sure Paul sees your question re scale.

Here's a small part of the email Paul has just sent to me re allocations etc:-

I won't have much time this afternoon or this evening - hopefully more time
tomorrow.

Would you mind keeping an eye on the forum to allocate models or help with
queries - modellers will need to know what file names to use and may
possibly need images (from the shape viewer with a grid to help gauge the
sizes)

End of quote.

John C has been talking to me over the email (Hope you don't mind me saying that John)

My statement on ANY CD USING MY STUFF is that it can stay there, Permissions remain and anything existing will not need to be replaced.

Thought I had better set the record straight, if anyone who is a CD route author wishes this in writing, I can do that too if required.

Tim,

I concur as written here

http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... &start=120

To clarify, under the present.....for want of a better word....ceasefire this is and remains my stance.

On the other hand l have the fullest support for Terrys actions, they are his choice an about face from him would just turn all this into a mockery and then despite anything previous written, all bets are off and l'm outta here.

Doug
An email has been sent. Seems a good idea with Paul and me keeping a master list as well.

Thanks Don, Tim and Mick.

The sizes need to be approximately the same as does the orientation - the best way to do this is to open up the original model with the shape viewer and select the grid option -each square is 1m

I would prefer to use the same file names (mine will be)
The models will be different there should be no misunderstandings.
