Modelling Projects Thread

Post by trains2 »

I always thought it would be nice to know what people are up to in the model railway world. What are you building? What are you repainting? What are you converting? You get the idea.

I'll start the ball rolling...

I currently have 3 rolling stock projects on the go (as well as building the layout  ). Namely:

1. SWT Class 442 Wessex conversion from 5 x Lima Mk3s using Hurst Models conversion parts. Available from http://www.hurstmodels.co.uk/. I have been doing this for 8 or so months now, and am near to completing it. All the coaches have been converted, and the only one that still requires some work is the buffet car. I have just started to paint the coaches into the correct SWT livery (subject to change as the 442s are off for C6 exams this week, which includes a slight livery change). Here are a few pics, the first is rather old and is of the DTF:

...and 2 pics of the current painting situation of the TSOW (still WIP, so excuse the sloppy middle-band blue - it's the wrong colour anyway):

It is slowly coming together, and the real challenge will be doing the SWT red and orange swoops on the side and roof on the driving vehicles - should be good fun! :D

2. Lima Class 60 repaint into EWS livery - 60075. Self explanitory:

3. Lima Mk2 repaints into correct Virgin red and conversion of a TFO to RFO:

So there we go, that's whats been keeping me busy in these cold winter months, now it's over to you! :)

Cheers

2 days ago, I finally wired up my new(ish) railway, so it now works. A few bit's of trackwork need sorting out and the diodes on the cutout points need replacing with switches. but it works.
Awaiting a computer that'll run KRS... *twiddles thumbs*

An update on my Wessex Electric. I have nearly finished the painting of the one of the driving cars:

And also, no EMU is complete without a decent lighting unit. :P

For these images you may need some 8)

At the moment, the Wessex Electric has not had it's lighting system upgraded to Desiro quality, but if it did I've done pretty well!! I will have to turn it down a notch or two, and of course paint it the correct colour.

Cheers
