Request for a little bit of Help (VofR)

Hi all,

I am planning to built the VofR route, since there is so much interest

, but before I start, I would like to know the Lat/Lon of Aberystwyth station and Devils Bridge station, also, would people prefer 2X scale or Truescale?

Aberystwyth...

Lat: 52:24:50N (52.414) Lon: 4:04:54W (-4.0817)

Devils Bridge...

Lat: 52:22:35N (52.3764) Lon: 3:51:24W (-3.8567)

And is there a scale that lets standard guage trains run on the main line, because if there is can I suggest that, allows more scope for Activity writing

I warn you now, if you do the route in 2x Terrian will be a major headache. AVIOD using 2x DEM data - it caused us a hell of a lot of problems. In the end the route had to be redone using TSTools - this is your only option if you want to do it 2x.

Thanks Robert, the easiest way of getting SG and NG to work is with truescale which will need X-Tracks, and from what Bruce posted, then I think that truescale would probably be easier

But I'll see what others think first

The standarg gauge track was just an idea, but for the moment, I'm just happy that somone has decided to make the route

Theres always two sides to every story though:

Yes WHR has been a total pain in the back; however so was laying 9 miles of fairly straight Suffolk countryside with no dynamic track sections. VoR is going to be a lot easier to create in x2 scale, not to mention the nice chunky look to all the stock... quite important with VoR Stock.

Id have thought it will be near impossible to get the track right without dynamic track, its certainly been essential on the Welsh Highland.

Hi there!

I am really glad to see someones considering making the route!

(Im sure i mentioned it on the forum just a few days ago)

My personnal opinion would be truescale, as there might be some problems with the mainline and narrow gauge junction at Aberystwyth?

I think that some people have already made some stock for the route which looks great! Im not sure if they are in truescale though?

well it would be best to do it in std gauge scale as the locos are already available that size

And very easy to re-scale with SFM. I've had no trouble doing it.

All the same, it's a bit of a pain to download an engine only to find that before you can run it on the correct route you have to download a seperate utility and re-size your loco. TBH 2x would get my vote-truescale engines tend to be too small IMHO, and 2x scale standard gauge has been done before.

To be honest, narrow gauge x2 is not my prefered choice. I would much prefer it if it was truescale, (and probably easier to create the mainline which runs next to it part of the way).

Although, x2 scale seems to be quite popular at the moment. Also, i find with truescale, it accurately depicts the nature of narrow gauge in a "Little" way!

Thats my personnal opinion Garthion, but may i suggest a poll, if you are really stuck for choice?

I already have truescale versions of the VofR tanks, hence the truescale and 2X scale Eagle locos a couple of months back

And I'll change Reg's updated model to truescale when the route is nearing completion, as I think that the route would bwe best in truescale, as has been mentioned, it is difficult to run SG otherwise
