On the highland mainline

Post by crosscountry »

Am in the process of putting together a few activities for the route based on the First Scotrail timetable

Wouldn't mind info on freight movements!

1H03 06:07 Mossend - Inverness, 4 Parcels vans, class 67 (Perth at 07:00ish). This doesen't run on a Monday, however 6H03 from Mossend to Inverness does, which consists of TTA oil tanks only, max usually about 6 or 7. Either a 67 or 66. Max speed 60mph. Perth at 02:40. These TTAs are then tripped on to Lairg and return to Mossend on Wednesday's 6D05 (see below).

6D05 10:56 Inverness - Mossend runs on a Wednesday only with anything upto 6 or 7 TTA oil tanks and 4 Parcels (the ones off 1H03) on the train. Again, worked by a 67. Max speed 60mph. Runs every other day of the week as a Class 4 (max speed 75mph) with 4 parcels vans only, no TTAs. Departs Inverness a little later at 11:36 as it can make up time due to increased speed.

Freightliner run a weekly cement train between Oxwellmains and Inverness, 66/6 haulage. Load is 32 PCAs. The trains are the 03:08 Oxwellmains - Inverness, Perth at 06:15. This returns later on the 17:00 from Inverness to Oxwellmains, Perth at 20:10.

That's it. However, pairs of DRS 37s on Binliners are in the frame for next year...

P.S If a 67 can't be a found, usually a 37 takes over.
