My line runs quite close to a canal over much of its length, and I've modelled this using the handy gradient tools in TSTools.
However, the canal banks change shape continuously as I drive past. Is there anything I can do to stabilise it?

hi fG,
well I satrted to reply to this thinking I could tell you the answer, but I can't at the moment remember the name of the field that needs setting - basically you can set it to zero to show every polygon all the time, or 1 to show them all when you are in a certain range - i'll check my facts and get back - unless someone beats me to it.
Cheers,
Dave

There is little you can do to reduce the jagged edges. I am building a route which has a canal, and I am intending to build some canal sections that drop inside to cover up the edges. The canal sections will also have their own water level so that locks can be used. There's also the possiblity of having canal boats moving up and down the canal, but thats limited to in between locks as its not possible to make them navigate up/down through the locks as well.

There's a 'Per Tile' setting you can get to in the RE... but I'm told that changing this to anything other than the default can cause serious FPS problems. On 2002-06-09 21:59, davec wrote:

In Woodhead V2 I thought about this because I've been putting in the River Don as it meanders along the same valley that the railway does and have had to be REALLY careful

Steve, are we talking the bias in the subtile window in RE or the tile detail level in RGE? I have mucked about with both and am now backtracking down every avenue that will raise frame rates, this is one thing I'm looking at so if you can explain further....
