Why do we need these polls. They are getting ridiculous now.

County Class, just to be difficult.

Don't know why you suggested those tinpot engines. They're no match for the LNER A3.

Want a bet! They're the most sure-footed machines around. Yesterday at the WSR 'Can Pac' slipped to a halt on Washford bank - with 6 on - and was rescued by a GWR loco.

And 'Can Pac' is the best Pacific about - and more powerful than an A3!

Back at the North Norfolk's Steam Gala - as well as a 'driver experience' run a few weeks earlier - I seem to remember 'City of Truro' having real issues with a slightly wet rail (not even on much of a rising gradient at one point!) - strangely enough, the other locos didn't experience any problems  :) .

You mean when it took 15 minutes to leave Weybourne? Thta was quite amusing. It was struggling all the way up the bank. Ben (Frazer) was working overtime!

Jon-if I were to have a look through my extensive collection of Railway Magazines I'm sure I could find plenty of occasions where GWR engines have been bailed out by LNER ones. And unlike some GWR engines *cough-Olton-Hall-on-the-West-Highland-cough*, Scotsman can cope with normal-width platfroms.

Yeah - but Scotsman is a rubbish engine. Even when they were in fine form back in the days of steam they were the 3rd best LNER pacifics - after, of course, the A4's and A2/2's ;) - and They're rubbish compared with a MN or a King
