WSR GALA

Post by hercules »

WSR gala at the end of the month- four days of intense steam operation with guest locos Canadian Pacific and the super D with the Beattie tank as well. The big blue beast S&D 88 should be in steam and hopefully doing some work, with the auto train running to Norton Fitzwarren, site of the new triangle and future expansion. Should not be missed.!

might be, but they'll be going by road (can pac isn't mainline certified, and the super D and beattie can't go fast enough to get a path on the GWML. They are probably not certified either). Kettles aren't like diesels where they can have basic brake and wheelset tests before being dragged on the main line.

Sadly 53809 won't be there to supplement 88, but it will hopefully be steamable by the end of the year. :)

88? Has to be blue given how few SDJR locos survive...

Why not? Just about every other preserved engine in Britain is painted BR black, blue's a nice change for gods sake.

Good on the WSR for sticking to their guns, blue will look marveloue, perhaps 89 at MRB should go into LMS black to give yet more variety.............
