Didn't even know one was being preserved! I really hope one of them is, I have good memories of their twilight years in and around Manchester. :)

Is a 309 a strathclyde blue train? If so, then it's as Bo'ness, and has been modified to work push/pull with any blue star fitted loco.

The Strathclyde blue train is a 311. The 309 is the Clacton Express EMU, in RRNW livery or Manchester Airport Express livery.
