47851 returns..

Post by jdjonny »

Some pics of today and Friday's charters, 47851 worked a charter down on Friday night to St Austell, and returned it today.

Despite the run down being up to 90 minutes early at some places, it was held at plymouth to let the mega-delayed FGW service with 43004 (MTU) past, which was 2 hours late. Train ended up arriving at St Austell about 10 down from its booked time.

The train stabled at Plymouth over the weekend and 31602 dragged it down to St Austell again this morning. The passengers arrived at the station after their weekend break in Cornwall, and their train is seen thrashing past Bodmin Parkway in full sun at around 10:05 this morning. Big up the dvr for the excellent thrash, top notch :)

Lovely to hear a bit of brush thrash back in Cornwall!!

Hi
Nice shots...I have to admit I do like 47851s livery. :P
The dirtier it gets the more realistic it looks....(saw my last one in 1976 on flyash at Peterboro).
Cheers

Oh yes, the coat of grime really adds realism to its 1960s livery, in a few more months it'll really look the biz - if they hold back the hose until then of course!!

I'd have loved to have got a decent daylight shot of it with the brown and cream coaches, alas I had to put work first  Which is why I had to go to Bodmin Parkway and get about 1/2 a coach in the frame.

Oh well, nice to see and hear it working hard up the bank, good shot or not :)

Cheers guys,
Jon

Class 31's were built by Brush Loughborough with the original intention of fitting Mirlees engines as per toffee apples ie, Class 30's 31001-3101? which were victims of standardisation as te rest of the 31 fleet came out with an EEsvrt power unit. So all 31's are English Electric Baby Brushes or more commonly Peds, Goyles, and Brians.
