Uninstall
i have all the default routes installed and have ELR, NWE V2 and thinking of getting Thames Mersey addon, once TM is installed can i uninstall any of the default routes which i don`t use, basiclly all except S&C. Just want to save hard drive space!
You never know when you might want to install another route, and most need to copy over files from the default routes. If you don't have space to spare with all the default routes installed, consider keeping them on another drive/partition/or on CD rom. Basically reinstalling default routes from the MSTS disc can be a pain and can can ovrewrite any things you might have tweaked in the global folder...

There's a way to uninstall the routes, but keep the needed files.
I can't remember how or what files though - maybe the TRK file? But it takes it out of Train Sim so it loads quicker but keeps the files there for other routes.
Although it doesnt really help on saving HDD space :/

Train store will do that for you... (but it doesn't save any disk space). There's a way to uninstall the routes, but keep the needed files.

If you want to make it more permanent then you need only keep the shapes and textures folders for the default routes... (but since they are the ones that take up 95% of the disk space - you might as well settle for the train store option!)

Get another hard drive.
Ny local dealer offered me a 160gig drive for £55.
One of these will hold more routes than you could explore in a year as well as more music than you could listen to in a lifetime.
Until you can get more storage, try zipping up the default routes.
You can unzip them to the routes folder when you need them.
