I need your help with delete the right loco and cars in Trainset Folder in TRAINS Folder. Now I did delete the route that I decide not to be a part of my route list in ROUTES Folder. Then next with the locomotives and cars in Trainset folder -- how do I know which locomotive and car belong to each route that I have in ROUTES Folder. I don't want to make a mistake to remove the locomotive or freight or passenger car from my Trainset folder. I know the only way to have is to store the route with their cars and locomotives together in Trainstore. I did not have that yet but eventually will put in my computer. But for now I need to know which to delete them and did make a backup copy of my Trainset Folder in the other hard drive. Thought maybe you have a better answer for me how to delete the right locomotive or freight/passenger cars from my Trainset Folder. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi John,
You don't say what the route was. I take it that it was a commercial route? Most of those have some identifier before the loco/stock name.
3DTS stock usually has 3dts in front of the name, Blue Arrow stuff has BA, Making tracks has MT etc. Not all do, but unless you're really short of disc space, or just don't like the models, you can always use the stock in explore mode on other routes or include them in activities you create.
I don't really understand why you're bothering to remove it? IMHO anyone who starts using MSTS is going to need Trainstore sooner or later. It's fantastically easy to use BUT you do need to read the manual. Together with Route Riter I'd say they are the "MUST HAVE" utilities for any Train Sim Installation.
If that doesn't help, let us know which route. Someone who has it may be able to identify the stock for you in their own installation.

Thanks for your reply and I should have said something about the name of the route in my first message. OK it's a payware route and is called PRR Middle Division. Now I did unistalled them with a click but somehow most of the locomotives and freight/passenger cars are left behind in the Trainset Folder in TRAINS Folder probably in Consists Folder too. The route of PRR Middle Division is not there in the ROUTES Folder and which is good but the other part -- not good. I was wondering about the program of Route Riter if that will be able to help me to identify the locomotives and cars first before delete them manually in the Trainset folder. Hope that you can tell me how to use the program of Route Riter to delete the locomotives and cars from Trainset Folder because I have not done myself yet. I know about Trainstore and it's true that I have to read the manual first before understanding how to store them aside the program of Train Simulator. Anyway hope that will help you about this above.

Open Route Riter and select the Activities/Stock tab.
Click Check all activities
Click unused services & consists.
This will give a list of all the consists and stock not used.
It is best to move the consists to a temporary folder in case they are needed by another route rather than deleting them.
Keep the rolling stock as well for a short while.

The method I use is to move all of the stock out of the Trainset folder and then run Route Control lite (freeware). It will tell you what you are missing, which you can then move back in. Once you get a clean report from Route Control Lite, whatever you haven't moved back in is not used and you can back it up somewhere else.
Be carefull using Route-Riter for this. It will tell you what stock files are not used but there might be another item in the same folder that is used. If you delete the folder, you lose them both.
I would use Route-Riter to identify the unused consists and move them somewhere else.

Will try this later on today with the program of Route Control Lite as your suggestion. Also the same with the program of Route-Riter as your second suggestion for the consists (unused).
Thanks for your big help with this and will post later to let you all know how I did make out with the delete of locomotives and freight/passenger cars out of my Trainset Folder in the program of Microsoft Train Simulator.
Take care

Hi Geoff
Yes I am disappointed but can't have everything is perfect like the program of Microsoft Train Simulator run very smoothly like no errors at all. I can't expect that. I will send you a pm later on today when I finish my shift this a.m. and right now the time show me at 3:50 a.m. here in Canada.
Anyway got all unused locomotive and freight/passenger cars in trainset folder under TRAINS from the payware route of PRR Middle Division also the consists too. Finally got deleted them out and took me a while to do this earlier today at home.
Thankyou again Geoff
