Post by Beetlejuice »

Does anyone know what could be the proplem with this?

I downloaded gmax off the website with the official add on, but it just comes out doubled up and like when windows 98 crashes- in all the boxes

Can anyone help? :(

Not entirely sure what you mean: can you get a screenshot? (press PrtScn button)

Do make sure your graphics drivers are up to date, and update DirectX if possible.

I used to run it nicely on W98 SE, so OS isn't a problem.

Open Gmax,

Along the top look for the Customize button,

click it and in the roll down menu click preferences ( at the bottom )

on that sub menu pop up you will see a tab at the top marked Viewports,

click that,

now near the bottom right is another tab called choose driver,

click that,

You now have three options, l think the default is Heidi, you need to select either Direct3D or OpenGL, l use OpenGL as that has the fastest and smoothest rendering but your graphics card may prefer Direct3D, select the one you want,

click ok,

reboot Gmax and it should be ok,

if not, select one of the others, one of these will suit your system.

Hope that helps

Best regards

Or, if it won't start up at all, add -h to the Target properties in the gmax trainsim shortcut: for example, normally it should read something like:

%GMAXLOC%gmax.exe -i gamepacks\trainsim\gmax.ini -p gamepacks\trainsim\plugin.ini

if you put -h just after gmax.exe then click Apply it'll start up the graphics driver selection dialog as Michael has described above.
