GWR - Cornish Riviera 2

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

GWR - Cornish Riviera 2

Post by dwjoy »

For those who thought that the Cornish Riviera activity delivered with GWR was too easy, I have just uploaded Version 2. This one is far more difficult.
Unzip the downloaded zip file to a temporary folder. In addition to the CR2.apk file which you should just double click on to unpack, there are all the consist files used by the activity, so copy all the .con files to your trains/consist folder and reply 'NO' if there are any messages "file exists - overwrite? ". Also included are the extra rolling stock used. Again, copy these folders to your Trains/Trainset folder and reply 'NO' to any message "file exists - overwrite? ".

The following is from the activity description:

This is not a straight forward activity - it was developed to challenge the player and for those who turn off the sutomatic fireman, I rate this activity as 'very difficult'. Even with the Automatic Fireman on, it requires active participation. To start with, the train isnt parked nicely at Paddington. The cars are but the loco is in a shed at Old Oak Common. Its tender needs water and coal. When thats done, its backed out onto the mainline, up to Paddington and coupled to the waiting cars. Then, after un-coupling the train from the delivery loco at the other end (F9), its ready for a 10:30 am departure (assuming that you did all that in a limited amount of time, otherwise you are going to be late). Back in 1915, there were 8 stops between Paddington and Plymouth, with cars dropped off as follows:
3 at Westbury
3 at Taunton
2 at Exeter
The train starts with 15 cars so after Exeter, you should have 7 cars attached.
Follow the timetable (F10) and get to Plymouth by 14:30

Very eager to get going on this activity, but thwarted by a couple of missing items of stock, namely :-

GWR 72XX\GW72XXt01.eng
and GWR 6000\GW6000SC.eng

The latter is in consist king-centenary.con, the former is a loose consist item.

I've searched & searched in the file library, but just can't find 'em.

Any little hints ?

Geoff,
Sorry about that - I have uploaded the two missing locos, both authored by Robin Howell.

Thanks, Derick.
Look forward to their arrival so I can get on with the activity.

Problem with CR2.apk

Post by FreshwaterIsleofWight »

Hello there,
Just downloaded your file and this message appeared when trying to install it:

'There was a problem installing custom user service:
"CR2.apk"

The Service pack may have been corrupted, or your disk maybe full. Re-Download it and try again.

Any ideas??

Couplings

Post by stephebm »

I've managed to get off-shed coaled and watered, and off up to Padd. in good time for a 10.30 depart BUT

When I arrive at the train i just bounce off.

I've looked at the couplings of the tender and train in conbuilder and can't see a problem - is it the presence of the 81xx at the other end?

Help! Please.

Great activty so far

When coupling, keep the impact speed to 2mph and be ready with the brakes - as soon as you have coupled, apply full brake to stop the loco bouncing forward.

Aligning a tender for water can be tricky. Here's how I do it... Move the loco forward slowly, brakes at the ready and stop when the rear wheels of the tender (the point where they touch the track) are aligned with the vertical water tower support. Press T and watch the F5 display.
