pop ups again!

Post by oldrocker »

Is it just me (who is suffering from a MySearch.net problem at the moment) or is anyone else getting a 'Sport Betting' pop up over the home page of UKTS?

Ditto here! I'm not even using IE, I'm using Firefox which usually blocks pop ups! I'll get a screenie and post it so Matt can take a look!

Does the close link not work then?

Pop-ups are a fact of life, regular banners don't pay money.

Thats it, saves me the effort of posting it, now all we need if for Matt to look at this topic and tell us that I should not be there
I really is annoying though, it has no safe method of closing it (I never trust the X on pop ups,) and if I press Alt+F4 I close Firefox!!! best thing I've found is to refresh or login quickly.

Click the X, if it doesn't work, *that* is when I will complain to burst.

You can safely close it by clicking on the x in the right hand corner. It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, the home page still loads behind it ok. I can live with it :)

It's only on until Feb 28th, it's a special that's been scheduled by Burst to go on the site and they are coughing up a 60% rate (usually 30%) at a very high CPM - it could get us up to another $80 just for the three weeks or so that it's on the site. As long as it is playing fair, it stays :)

And let's hope that this doesn't spell the end of layers as a useful function for web developers to use! :)

The touble with these pop-overs or whatever they may be called (layer ads) is that a fair few of the less honest ones are just giant links including the X close box which manage to install whatever little nasty things they want wherever you click in them.

I get rid of these godawful things by refreshing the page and hoping, or just not going back to the site.

Be very careful using 'X's or 'Click to close' boxes.

Well, as I say, if one of them on this site does do anything other than simply close the box please let me know immediately - Burst are a quality banner provider and they are quick to respond to any complaints that might put them in a bad light.
