A couple of the Austrian routes suffered from some QA issues, compared to their German routes. Semmering and Karwendelbahn left a fair bit of the terrain in RE green and K'bahn had a few locations where bridges were't aligned correctly or track/roads had substantial gaps between the terrain - though there's no doubting the climb out of Innsbruck is impressive.

Whichever you buy, you won't be disappointed, although don't expect the sort of detailed scenery that you get with routes like SVR and Swanage here in the UK. I was particularly disappointed by Semmering. From a route point of view, I still think that the Rhine Valley (PT1) is great to drive, but you don't get much rolling stock. The later ones are better value for money in this respect.

Lets not forget when making BOLD statements, that the average ProTrain route is over 10 times longer than the likes of SVR, and the authors certainly dont have the same level of access to the line as those at BlueArrowTS.MartinH wrote:although don't expect the sort of detailed scenery that you get with routes like SVR and Swanage here in the UK

My comment about Protrain scenery wasn't a criticism. These routes are very different beasts to Swanage and SVR and you wouldn't expect that much detail. Even so, I was a little disappointed by Semmering in this respect. What I did find excellent on the German routes was the artwork for the buildings. These are very authentic.

Don't buy PT2! It is included in Great Electirc Locmotives, which throws in some extra stuff. Great route, I was very pleased with it.

I bought Pro Train 2 months ago, great if you want a long drive with a lot of scenery, plus you can get a bit of speed up, SVR Cambrian and WSR are beautiful and have no comparison as far as scenery goes but they're only short and you're limited to 25 mph which can be a bit of a drag, unless you're one of the old boys looking for a bit of nostalgia

Hallo!unionpacific wrote:Chris,
On a slightly different note, whats the difference between the German Railroads Add-ons and the German Trains Add-ons?
Thank,
Paul.
German Railroads addons are complete routes with rolling stock and activities.
The main thing in German Trains addons are locomotives (renewed and in different liveries). Some wagons, activities for the German Railroads routes and updates for these routes are added.
You can have a look at their website http://www.german-railroads.de/ . You must look at the German version of the site, because the latest packs aren't in the English version. You'll also find some screenshots of the rolling stock there.
Keep on steamin'!
