Getting fed up!
' I'm posting this on behalf of my friend, Oldrocker.
'Can I bring this back to the real question please? For a number of weeks now I too have had problems with ads and logging in. I complained originally about the 'three day holiday in the Bahamas' one but this now seems to have been replaced with 888 casino. I'm not talking about the banner ads here I understand these disappear when logged in (but I do have doubts about ones that offer spyware solutions which are often malware) but pop ups behind the main site. I have Sygate firewall, Adaware6, Spybot, Spyguard installed.
But my main problem is around not being able to login to the site. This seemed to coincide with the first appearance of these ads and, probably coincidentally, with a very bad spyware infection. I've tried the alternative URL and get exactly the same. No premium access. This whole thing is ruining my enjoyment of this site which I now look at less and less because I can't participate or download.
I can't enter into correspondence on this because I can't get into the Forums but if anyone has any ideas please post them. I've emailed the Moderators some time ago and got an Atomic Systems reply which was a standard format and didn't sort the problems out.
Thanks for any help.'

As I say continually, I need screenshots of anything that is causing problems, without that there's not much I can do.
When you say you can't log in to the site - what's happening? I can try resetting your password - sometimes IE goes nuts and loses information or corrupts it or something (I don't know!) and resetting the password on the server seems to cure login problems for people, but again, it depends on what you mean by "cant log in".
You should get NO generic advertising on the main site when logged in, including bahamas, 888 and any of that rot.
Matt.

Try downloading and installing Firefox.
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox
That'll make sure IE still hasn't got any "helpers" working away in the background.

You've downloaded and installed these programs, good.......
They will stop anything new coming in.
Have you run (for example) spybot, and let it look at what you're currently running, as opposed to what you're currently protecting your computer from?
I've never had the "in your face" advert, possibly something is running in the background that you haven't found yet. Full scans by all the AV etc programs might pick something up.
Cheers,
Andy.

I have this problem with IE, i recently switched to Mozilla but fid that it sometime does not rcognise files for download and saves them as .all files! This is most annoying as I have to then use IE to get the files and as soon as the site loads, the banners appear, and gnerally will not dissapear until I close IE! I regularly check my system for Trojans and Spyware but nothing shows, I'll try Firefox and see if it is better than the standard Mozilla (Which bloks the pop ups anyway!)

Dale,
I always use and recommend Opera ( http://www.opera.com ). The Free version has (configurable) unobtrusive ads in a tiny bar at the top of the screen. It has a built-in intelligent pop-up blocker, download manager, and password manager. The only real fault I've found is that some sites (like microsoft.com) do not recognise it - but that's because they're only configured for IE and Netscape.
Worth looking at, IMHO...
