No offence but you are joking aint you? 2 or 3 A4's??? Gresley will not be finished, Bittern will definantly not be, Mallard is shut up in the NRM whilst Dwight D. and Dominion are across the pond. Union of South Africa should be possible.

Flying Scotsman will not be there as she will be in the Works at York. So that will leave Green Arrow which is down at NNR at present and will be going back to York in February, Morayshire is possible but will B&KR let her go. So with a distinct lack of Gresley locos around there could be only 2 or 3 Gresley locos, never mind 2 or 3 A4's.

Just for the record I am an NYMR member and have worked there for nearly 10 years and I would love this gala to be a success, its just that the timing is wrong owing to the amount of Gresley locos available to steam. I'm guessing Green Arrow is going into LNER to match the entire teak train supposedly coming from the SVR, plus it would then match Scotsman for the summer York - Scarborough runs.

It's not actually impossible for Bittern to be done by May. The boiler's all but done (It's returing to Ropley on Mon/Tues), as is the tender, and it's just a case of putting the pieces together, which, given that professionals can work on it 5 days a week, means it's not out of the question for it to be done in 6 months time.

I think Bittern was due to be finished during the summer 2005 so will probably miss the gala - just.

60007 I am unsure about but judging by the odd story in Steam Railway about the need for more work on the boiler I would put a question mark against its participation.

It would be good to see 4771 again, wouldn't it be great if 60009 was re-painted garter blue for that month only as well. :D Unlikely though as I think the owner prefers in in Brunswick green plus there is the cost to consider, although photo charter organisers have managed to pay in the past for re-paints...

regards,

Dan

i have a copy of the Moors line magazine with me now and it says that 60007's firebox is completed and the boiler is progressing rapidly

What about Morayshire? should get her down she is Gresley and the locos used to work the line so it would be a good engine to see :) (put the Goathland plates on).

I think it would be great to see a B1 permanently based on the railway, seeing as they worked over the line pre-1965. :)

You could even do an exchange at the end of the event!!
Mayflower for the S15
Morayshire for Repton

(Only joking!!)

I am seriously looking forward to this though, regardless of whether I see any SR/GWR stock! :)

No, no, no!!

I was referring to not wanting to see any GWR or SR stock there, hence my comment about replacing SR locos with LNER ones! :D

Or does "you dare lol" mean that you want to keep hold of Repton forever and ever??
